What's an Enzyme Peel?

Like a chemical peel, an enzyme peel is also a treatment used to improve skin texture and tone. The outermost layer of the skin (stratum corneum) is made of dead skin cells containing keratin protein. Enzymes work by breaking down this protein, which loosens the connections between dead skin cells, inducing exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth. The most popular fruit enzymes are papain, found in papayas, and bromelain, found in pineapple.

It is important to remove your makeup before sleep every night. Sleeping in makeup can cause clogged pores, blemishes, irritation and dryness. You should also wash your face each morning to remove excess sebum, toxins and products applied the night prior, such as retinol, which should not be used in the daytime.
