Frequently asked Questions and Price Guide
What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is the permanent reduction of hairs using laser energy.
Who can have it?
Men or women of all skin types may enjoy the benefits of laser hair removal.
What areas can be treated?
Almost all areas of the body may be treated. Exceptions include areas close to the eyes and inside the nose and ears.
How does it work?
Lasers selectively target the pigment (colour) in hair follicles. This causes localized damage to the hair follicles resulting in lighter, thinner hair or no hair at all. Hair in its active growth phase is targeted during each treatment (up to 20% of your hair is in active growth phase at any given time).
How many treatments do I need?
The average number of treatments recommended is 8, although people with darker skin or lighter, finer hair may require additional treatments.
Does it hurt?
There is a mild prickly sensation but it is very tolerable. The area treated will be covered with cool gel for added comfort.
What can I expect after the treatment?
There is no downtime with laser hair removal. Some mild irritation, similar to a mild sunburn, can be experienced.
Who cannot have laser hair removal?
Some medications and medical conditions can interfere with the treatments. Your technician, along with the doctors, will review your history to assess your suitability. Laser hair removal is not recommended during pregnancy or for anyone who has taken Accutane within the past 6 months. White, grey or red hair is not responsive to this treatment.
How long does a session take?
The amount of time required per session depends on the size of the area treated. Smaller areas such as the upper lip or underarm may take 15 minutes, while larger areas such as the back or full legs may take an hour.
How much does it cost?
Price varies with the size of the area treated. Please see our price list. Discounts are available for packages of 3 or 8 treatments.
