Microdermabrasion

To help repair the damage of aged and over-exposed skin and bring back your skin’s youthful appearance, True offers microdermabrasion. This popular non-invasive procedure helps smooth out fine lines, minimize shallow acne scars, and decrease blotchiness. Using a device similar to a fine sandblaster, the treatment mixes gentle abrasion with suction, stimulating collagen production and removal of the dead, outer layer of skin cells. Results are optimal with a series of 4-6 treatments and are highly recommended with Photofacials.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique. It lifts the upper layer of dead, yellow, waxy skin cells providing a refreshed and smoother appearance.

Who can have it?

Men and women of all skin types may enjoy microdermabrasions.

What areas can be treated?

The most popular area for microdermabrasion is the face, although any area can be treated (eg. the arms or back).

How does it work?

A device like a fine sandblaster is used to spray tiny crystals across the skin, mixing gentle abrasion with suction to remove the dead, outer layer of skin cells. Microdermabrasion can be a stand-alone treatment as well as integrated into any Paramedical Treatment (facial). It also can be used in conjunction with photofacials or chemical peels for enhanced results.

How many treatments do I need?

A weekly treatment can be performed for 6 weeks to smooth the skin and soften fine lines. To maintain a fresh appearance, microdermabrasions are recommended every 2 weeks.

Does it hurt?

Microdermabrasion is not painful. The sensation feels similar to gently rubbing sand on your skin along with a suction feeling.

What can I expect after the treatment?

The post-treatment sensation is similar to a very mild sunburn. Your skin will feel very soft and may have a luminous glow. It is extremely important to be using a broad spectrum SPF while doing microdermabrasion treatments, as well as keeping your skin protected (hat) as much as possible.

Who cannot have microdermabrasions?

Microdermabrasion is not suitable for people with sensitive skin, spider veins, rosacea or active (pustular) acne. It is also not recommended during pregnancy.

How long does a session take?

Treatment time is thirty minutes for the face. Other areas may require more time.

How much does it cost?

Costs per treatment: Face $120. Face, neck and chest $195.
